Approach coverage

Ketchikan International’s six approach plates cover both ends of the numbered runway, so the instrument set is not confined to one landing direction. The combination of ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures provides both ground-based and satellite-based coverage rather than reliance on a single approach type. Klawock’s six published charts represent notably thinner overall procedure coverage than Ketchikan’s 11.

Runway and VFR context

The longer runway dimension belongs to the 9,500 ft water landing area; aircraft using pavement have the single 7,500 ft asphalt runway. The Ketchikan Sectional adds broader VFR geographic and visual context beyond the airport diagram and terminal procedures.
