Concentrated instrument coverage

All three approaches at Mc Grath serve a single runway end: two use RNAV (GPS), while the third uses a localiser. This provides both GPS and localiser-based guidance, but leaves the other three runway ends without published approaches. Instrument coverage is therefore concentrated on one direction rather than distributed across the two runway alignments.

Runways and surrounding chart coverage

Runway 17/35 is nearly three times the length of gravel runway 05/23, making the asphalt strip the relevant option for aircraft requiring more than 2,000 ft of runway. Tatalina LRRS has equally extensive published chart coverage by count, while Nikolai’s set is thinner. The McGrath Sectional adds the wider visual context around the airport that is not provided by the terminal procedures.

Common questions about PAMC

What charts are available for PAMC?

5 current FAA charts for Mc Grath, including 3 instrument approachs. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for PAMC?

CTAF 123.6. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at PAMC?

Mc Grath has 2 runways. The longest is 17/35 at 5,936 ft by 100 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does PAMC have an ILS approach?

No ILS is published. In total PAMC has 3 published instrument approaches, of which 2 are RNAV (GPS).

Which runway do instrument approaches serve at PAMC?

Every published approach serves one runway end. There is no instrument procedure to the reciprocal direction, so an arrival in instrument conditions commits to that single approach direction regardless of the wind.

Is PAMC a towered airport?

No — Mc Grath has no control tower. Traffic co-ordinates on a common frequency rather than with a controller, which is listed in the frequencies table on this page.

Are these PAMC charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
