FS2004 Cal Air Douglas DC-10 G-BJZD

Cal Air International Douglas DC-10 G-BJZD brings a classic 1980s UK charter look to FS2004, reflecting the airline’s former Laker Airways widebody used on Mediterranean, Canary Islands, and occasional long-haul routes. Textures only, it requires the FFX/SGA DC10 base model for a detailed virtual cockpit and period-appropriate exterior finish.

Textures only; requires the FFX/SGA DC10 (SGA1030.ZIP). Repainted by Evgeni Slepnev.

Cal Air International was a joint venture airline started in 1982 with just 2 DC-10s bought from the recently defunct Laker Airways(re-registered as G-BJZE and G-BJZD by British Caledonian and the Rank Organization. Cal Air’s DC-10s were mostly used on UK charter flights to popular Mediterranean resorts, North Africa and the Canary Islands.

Long haul trips touched Orlando and Tampa, Florida, Los Angeles, The Caribbean, Toronto and Vancouver, Canada and The Gambia and Kenya in Africa. A third DC-10, also from Laker Airways was acquired in 1986 and re-registered G-GCAL. These 3 DC-10s were also used for ad hoc charter flights to various corners of the globe. Cal Air closed down in 1990. G-BJZD and G-BJZE went to Fedex in the USA while G-GCAL works as a flying eye hospital for Orbis International. Not a bad ending for these iconic DC-10s.
