Challenge Air Cargo (CAC) is a Miami-based all-freight carrier established in 1986. The airline operated a fleet of 757 and 707 freighters until 1998, when the first DC-10-40F joined the fleet. CAC was not only the launch customer for this Pratt&Whithey-powered freighter, but until now it is also the only one. The three aircraft were acquired via OMEGA/Finova from Japan Air Lines and put in service between 1998 and 1999. Only a short time later, CAC went under ownership of UPS, but stayed as an own company. From 2000 on, some aircraft were stored from time to time.

Challenge Air Cargo became Centurion Air Cargo in 2001.
