FSX Cook Strait AI

Cook Strait AI adds more believable ferry and ship traffic between Wellington and Picton, improving immersion across the strait and Marlborough Sounds with updated routes and corrected boat sounds in FSX. It requires the ships package FSXCOOKS.ZIP and the original Marlborough Sounds scenery packs MARLB.ZIP and COOKBTUP.ZIP.

Installation:

Copy and paste the new scenery into the of the Cook Strait AI Boats folder in ADDON Scenery. I have fixed a couple of mistakes in the sounds boats as well. Using TTools update the flightplans to go in the Scenery /World /Scenery folder or Just insert the Traffic Test BGL into the above folder. REMOVE the Traffic_ship1 Bgl from the folder if you have previously downloaded the original package. This updates the boat travel across Cook Strait. Leave the Traffic_Sounds.BGL in the scenery/world /scenery folder so you still have boats traveling round the sounds.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
