FSX Modified Touchdown Effects For AI V2

Refined AI touchdown effects bring more believable tire smoke and sound to FSX, with lighter, more transparent burn haze, subtle vortex swirl, and a sharper tire screech audible near landing traffic. The updated effect files replace the default touchdown visuals and add dedicated audio for AI aircraft within roughly 100 meters.

This version updates the earlier files (TD_EFX.ZIP) and makes the smoke effect much less bulky. These files change the default FSX tire burn smoke effects, making them less dark, more transparent and with a bit more vortex swirl. Also adds tire screech, which can be heard if within 100 meters of a landing AI aircraft. By Derek MacCarthy.

Make sure to backup your original fx files just in case you don't like these.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
