FSX / P3D utility

FSX fsxlogbook Utility

fsxlogbook Utility turns the FSX logbook.bin into clear, usable flight statistics, adding totals for aircraft used, airports visited, takeoffs and landings, time by aircraft type, average flight time, and IFR, night, and multi hours. It stays read-only, and exports lists to CSV or the clipboard for easy tracking.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This software is an FSX logbook viewer displaying a little more information than the viewer in FSX, mostly some totals that are nice to see like: how many different planes were used, how many different airports were visited, how many takeoffs and landings, flight time per plane type, average flight time, take offs and landings per airport. By Jean-Christophe Arnulfo.

There isn't much data to play with in logbook.bin, so that's about it.

It will read the file logbook.bin but not edit it. Export to .csv or clipboard is also available. Export to csv can be done using commas or semi-colons.

Installation/Execution:

fsxlogbook needs no installation. It's a simple standalone executable. It has been tested under Windows XP and Windows Vista, with FSX SP2.

The logbook.bin file is expected to be in \My Documents\Flight Simulator Files or \Mes Documents\Fichiers Flight Simulator. If it is anywhere else, fsxlogbook will ask you to locate it once and for all. If you locate the wrong file and want to change it, then use the registry editor (regedit.exe) to change the "LOGBOOK" entry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Vertigo\fsxlogbook\MAIN.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D utility
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
