This repaint captures the Lion Air Boeing 737-800W, meticulously adapted for the FAIB (FSX AI Bureau) B737-800 model (faib7378v13.zip). Created by Mariano Bonaccorso, it provides a detailed visual experience across multiple simulators including Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. The free repaint only includes the liveries; the base aircraft model is not included. However, that model is freely accessible in the Fly Away Simulation library.
Accurate Exterior Details for the Indonesian Airline
Profile view of the repainted aircraft showing subtle markings and winglets.
This particular Lion Air texture showcases the Indonesian carrier’s standard corporate colors, emphasizing a faithful recreation of the tail illustration and fuselage font. Lion Air, known for its extensive Boeing 737 family fleet, operates a wide route network in Southeast Asia. The repaint aligns closely with the real aircraft’s winglet design (the upward-pointing tips at the end of each wing) to ensure a genuine representation in your virtual skies.
Texture Package and File Formats
The download includes multiple versions of the texture files to work seamlessly with both older and newer simulator builds. Within the unzipped folder, you will find:
- DXT5 files for modern sims such as Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
- DXT3 files for legacy compatibility, suitable for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
- 32-bit texture included for those who wish to convert or preview using dedicated graphical tools (for example, ModelConverterX). Although 32-bit may be useful for editing, it is generally not recommended for in-sim use due to potential performance concerns.
To complement night operations, a custom lightmap is bundled with the repaint to ensure realistic illumination of the fuselage and tail elements under low-visibility conditions.
Steps to Integrate the Repaint
Add the enclosed texture folder to the correct folder for your FAIB 737-800W aircraft. Then, update the aircraft.cfg (the configuration file that defines which liveries are recognized). Insert a new [fltsim.X] entry below the existing ones, like in the example excerpt provided:
[fltsim.X]
title=AI B738W LNI_PK-LKK
sim=FAIB_7378
model=winglets_SN
texture=LNI_PK-LKK
atc_airline=LION INTER
atc_parking_codes=LNI
atc_parking_types=GATE
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=B737-800W
ui_variation=Lion Air
description=AI Aircraft from FAIB
Replace “X” with the subsequent number in your aircraft listings. Verify additional parameters match your own simulator’s naming schemes. If you are unsure, refer to the official documentation that came with the FAIB model, alongside the aircraft configuration guidelines in the simulator’s SDK (Software Development Kit).
Important Notes
- Livery Integrity
- The custom textures mirror real-world markings and should display accurately in all standard lighting conditions. Please confirm your chosen simulator build is compatible with the included formats.
- Freeware Base Model
- Remember that this package only contains the repaint. You will need the FAIB Boeing 737-800W base model from the Fly Away Simulation collection. Place these liveries in the same directory structure outlined in the base model’s instructions.
- Developer Credits
- All credit goes to Mariano Bonaccorso for developing these liveries and textures. The FAIB model is created by FSX AI Bureau.
