Fusing Airline Heritage with Modern Flight Standards

The 737-700 belongs to the well-known Next Generation series, which is renowned for its versatility and performance in real-world airline operations. Here, it carries the unique Cloud9 Virtual Airlines livery, reflecting subtle design elements that set it apart in the sky. From the paint accents along the fuselage to the smooth wing contours, sim flyers will find a balanced blend of visual fidelity and operational depth. The team behind this project, Project Open Sky, is recognized in the virtual aviation community for crafting accurate external models and flight handling profiles.

Refined Functionality and Performance

Below is an overview of the included systems and design elements that highlight this mod’s functionality:

  • Moving Control Surfaces: Elevators, ailerons, and rudder animations respond accurately to pilot inputs in real time.
  • Independent Suspension: Each landing gear strut reacts separately to ground movements for a realistic landing and taxiing experience.
  • Nose Gear Steering: Maneuver on the ground with precision thanks to a modeled front gear steering mechanism.
  • Trim Adjustments: Horizontal stabilizer animations provide full trim range for stable flight configurations.
  • Passenger Door Operations: The forward cabin door opens, allowing an immersive ground services sequence.
  • Flexing Wing Structure: The wings exhibit visible bending under aerodynamic load, enhancing realism.
  • Tilted Bogies: Main gear bogies tilt naturally as weight shifts during takeoff and landing phases.
  • Spinning Wheels: All wheels rotate according to taxi and runway speed, adding eye-catching movement details.
  • Reverser Deployment: Thrust reversers animate on touchdown, enhancing braking performance on shorter runways.
  • Material-Based Reflection: Each aircraft section features unique reflectivity levels for a nuanced shine under various lighting conditions.
  • Accurate Flight Dynamics: Tailored FDE files recreate the real balance, stall behavior, and engine response for the 737 type.
  • Spoiler Extension: Flight and ground spoilers extend realistically, reflecting actual 737 sequences in different flight envelopes.
  • High-Resolution Textures: Fuselage and wing details stand out under close inspection, revealing fine markings and panel lines.
  • Integrated Night Lighting: Cabin windows, exterior lights, and cockpit panels illuminate naturally for after-dark operations.
  • Landing Lights in the Cockpit View: Observe runway illumination from the pilot’s perspective for enhanced situational awareness.
  • Reflective Cockpit Windows: The glazed windows shine and shift appearance based on external light angles.
  • Impact Effects: Hard landings and ground mishaps trigger crash responses within the simulator’s physics engine.
  • Transparent Navigation Light Covers: The colored lenses on wingtips and tail are transparent, matching real-world lens design.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
