Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This specialized repaint delivers a detailed Royal Air Force Avro Anson C19 livery as it appeared in 1963 with the Southern Communications Squadron at RAF Bovingdon. Developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, it reflects TX195’s authentic markings from its 1949 delivery to the RAF. Created by Peter Watkins, this add-on requires the payware FSAddon Avro Anson C19 model, which can be acquired separately from a payware store such as SimShack. The package does not include the original aircraft itself.

Background on the RAF Avro Anson C19

The Avro Anson C19, known for its twin-engine configuration and reliability, served as a communications and light transport plane in the Royal Air Force. TX195, in particular, had an extensive service record, operating in multiple units before joining the Southern Communications Squadron. Bovingdon, the RAF base where TX195 was stationed during the early 1960s, was well-known for facilitating communication flights and VIP transport duties. This repaint captures the unique squadron colors and insignia characteristic of that time and place.

This repaint reproduces the subtle fuselage lines and surface textures seen on the real TX195. Subtle details, such as the distinct squadron tail band around the vertical stabilizer, have also been integrated using accurate references. The result is a visually faithful representation of a key communications aircraft of its era.

Additional Notes

This texture set is fully compatible with the flight dynamics and panel configurations included in the FSAddon Avro Anson C19 package. It does not modify the underlying systems or models but instead updates the external visuals. For the best experience, confirm that you have installed the correct payware aircraft and that your simulator settings are optimized for higher-resolution textures.

By integrating this repaint, enthusiasts can explore a historically significant RAF aircraft with an added layer of immersion. Sincere thanks to Peter Watkins for creating and sharing this repaint and to FSAddon for providing the base payware model upon which it is built.
