An AFCAD is primarily an airport facility-data update. It can alter runways, taxi routes, parking assignments and AI operations, but it is not a substitute for new terminal models or ground textures. These packages are alternatives with different scopes, not cumulative upgrades that should automatically be stacked together.
Can I use more than one KLAX scenery package?
Do not run two KLAX airport-layout packages at the same priority. A complete rebuild commonly includes its own airport facility file, so adding a second AFCAD can produce duplicate runways, misplaced AI aircraft, conflicting parking assignments or taxi routes that no longer match the visible pavement.
Disable the unwanted KLAX entry in the FSX Scenery Library rather than merely placing another package above it. Library priority can resolve some overlapping records, but it does not reliably remove every duplicate object or facility definition.
The wider Los Angeles scenery may be usable alongside an airport package because its main purpose is the surrounding area. Check its documentation and file list for any KLAX-specific airport file before combining them.
Will these add-ons work in FSX: Steam Edition?
Conventional FSX scenery built from scenery and texture files will usually work in FSX: Steam Edition. The common problem is an older installer looking for the boxed FSX location rather than the Steam installation folder; manual installation normally avoids that path-detection issue.
If a download contains separate FSX and Prepar3D files, select the FSX version. A package being advertised for both simulators does not mean that its Prepar3D-specific files should be copied into FSX.
How do I prevent missing buildings or duplicate runways?
Start by installing one KLAX package into a clearly named folder and confirming that no older KLAX or AFCAD entry remains active.
- Nothing appears: verify that the package is enabled in the Scenery Library and that the folder added is the package root containing its
Sceneryand, where supplied,Texturesubfolders. - Buildings or ground textures are missing: preserve the download's original folder structure, check that every supplied texture was copied and raise Scenery Complexity if the objects use scenery-density conditions.
- Runways, signs or jetways are duplicated: search your active scenery folders for another KLAX airport file, especially a separate AFCAD installed by an AI-traffic or older scenery package.
- AI aircraft park incorrectly: use the AFCAD supplied with the visual scenery rather than an unrelated layout whose stands and taxi links may not align.
- FSX runs short of memory near Los Angeles: reduce AI traffic, autogen or scenery complexity, or choose the lighter KLAX update. FSX remains a 32-bit application, so a detailed airport combined with complex aircraft, weather and dense regional scenery can exhaust its available address space.
