FSX F-16 Canopy Transparence Fix

F-16 canopy textures for Viperden-style Viper_NOR models regain proper tinted transparency and eliminate the common glass artifacts seen in newer FSX SP2/Acceleration builds. Two calibrated options deliver either a lighter, F/A-18-like tint or a darker hue, preserving a more authentic look across compatible Kirk Olsson variants.

This is a fix for the FSX Viperden-type F16s, those mostly with a Viper_NOR model file like, for example, the viperden_X.zip file, which is the Lockheed Martin F-16 Figthting Falcon (VIPER) by Kirk Olsson adapted to use in FSX by Danny Garnier (model file is Viper_NOR.mdl). That fix is about the canopy transparency which happens to cause troubles with the latest FSX versions, like the FSX SP2 or Acceleration, for example.

No real fix exists at the time, with that released with the F-16_Package-1.zip package translating into a completely clear canopy, which does not respect the tinted hue existing with the real world aircraft. It is possible that that fix work with other version of Kirk Olsson F-16 but I take no liability about, which you should perform at your own risks (mostly, it looks like when working with miscellaneous F-16 models, the transparency is fixed except at the HUB which remains untinted). Our fix comes into two versions, one of a relatively clear (like the FSX F-18), the other of a relatively dark hue, respectively. By G. Guichard.

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme
