FSX 73 Airports In South Africa Scenery

Seventy-three South African airports and airfields receive refreshed layouts for more believable regional flying, with placements and boundaries shaped from Google Earth reference and Airport Design Editor work. Designed for FSX, the package updates a wide spread of strips and fields to better match real-world geography while keeping performance-friendly scenery objects and apron detail.

73 Airports And Airfields In South Africa. Enhanced airports based on Google Earth data. By Hermann Kuhne.

Using Google earth as template and Airport Design Editor I tried to enhance a few airports and airfields in South Africa. Mainly due to the lack of information I had to rely greatly on Google earth and as you would surely know, not even the resolution of those images are always satisfactory.

I tried enhancing about 73 different airfields and airports and with the help of ADE loosely recreated them. They are by no means perfect or even absolutely correct. With the resources available that is almost impossible. It greatly improves the flying experience though and maybe someday someone would follow the example of our Australian counterparts when it comes to realistic creation of airfields. I think they are the best! At least I tried to give us something better.

Installation:
Use one of two methods.
1. Unzip all .bgl files from the RSA_FSX\scenery folder into Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\scenery.
or
2. Copy RSA_FSX folder into Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\ and add in the library. I prefer it this way and keep files seperate.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

    Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.

  3. Activate in Scenery Library

    In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
