Learn what A2A Simulations and Accu-Sim are, which flight simulators they support, and how to check aircraft, version and console compatibility.
A2A Simulations is a third-party aircraft developer best known for Accu-Sim, which models aircraft systems, wear, maintenance and engine behaviour beyond the host simulator’s defaults. Its catalogue covers Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, FSX and Prepar3D, with older releases for FS2004; support always depends on the specific product and version.
Which flight simulators does A2A Simulations support?
A2A supports several Microsoft-based simulators, but compatibility is assigned per aircraft, edition and simulator version.
| Flight simulator | A2A support |
|---|---|
| Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 | Supported by compatible A2A products, including the Comanche 250. Our assessment of high-fidelity aircraft available for MSFS 2024 includes the A2A Comanche. Check whether a product uses a dedicated MSFS 2024 build or MSFS 2020 compatibility. |
| Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 | Supported by A2A’s newer MSFS aircraft, notably the Accu-Sim Comanche 250. These packages are different from the older FSX and Prepar3D editions. |
| Microsoft Flight Simulator X | A major legacy A2A platform with numerous general-aviation aircraft and warbirds. FSX boxed and FSX: Steam Edition compatibility can differ by installer. |
| Prepar3D | Supported by selected A2A aircraft across several Prepar3D generations. The precise Prepar3D release and product licence must match; an FSX installer is not automatically a Prepar3D installer. |
| Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 | Older products exist from the company’s earlier catalogue. Treat these as legacy releases rather than versions of the modern MSFS or Prepar3D packages. |
Does A2A support X-Plane, DCS or FlightGear?
No regular A2A aircraft range is available natively for X-Plane, DCS or FlightGear. A2A products are built for particular host simulators and cannot be converted by copying their folders into another simulator.
What does Accu-Sim actually add?
Accu-Sim is A2A’s aircraft simulation framework, not a separate flight simulator. Depending on the aircraft, it can model engine starting and combustion, temperatures, component condition, fouling, electrical behaviour, maintenance and persistent wear. The aim is to make operating technique and aircraft condition affect what happens in the cockpit.
Packaging differs between product generations. Some older FSX and Prepar3D releases offered the base aircraft and Accu-Sim expansion separately, while newer products may include the relevant systems in one package. Owning an A2A aircraft therefore does not necessarily mean that every Accu-Sim feature is installed.
How do I check whether an A2A add-on will work?
Match the exact A2A product to the exact host simulator before downloading, installing or buying anything.
- Read the full simulator name. MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024, FSX and Prepar3D are separate platforms. Similar aircraft names do not make their packages interchangeable.
- Identify the package type. Confirm whether it is a complete aircraft, an Accu-Sim expansion or merely a repaint. An expansion or livery cannot supply the missing base model.
- Match the simulator generation. This is especially important with Prepar3D because products and installers may target only particular releases.
- Check the edition and operating system. Legacy installers may expect an older simulator installation or registry entry. FSX compatibility also does not guarantee FSX: Steam Edition support.
- Install dependencies in order. Install the host simulator first, then the correct A2A base aircraft, any separately required Accu-Sim component, and finally optional liveries.
A mistake we see constantly is treating “for the A2A C172” as meaning that the aircraft itself is included. For example, this FSX and Prepar3D trainer-livery pack contains additional paint schemes for the A2A model; it does not contain the payware Cessna 172 or its systems.
Can A2A aircraft run on Xbox or PlayStation?
Do not assume that a PC-compatible A2A aircraft will run on a console. A2A products have primarily been PC add-ons, and packages relying on desktop installers or external components cannot simply be placed on Xbox or PlayStation.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 itself is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, but that does not make every PC add-on console-compatible. Treat an A2A aircraft as PC-only unless its specific edition explicitly lists console support and is distributed through a supported in-simulator channel.
Can I use an A2A repaint without the original aircraft?
No: an A2A repaint supplies textures and configuration references, not the aircraft model or Accu-Sim systems. It must also match the exact A2A aircraft edition; an FSX repaint will not normally work with an MSFS aircraft bearing the same real-world name.
If a repaint does not appear, produces blank textures or is assigned to the wrong model, first verify the required base aircraft, host simulator and variant. Reinstalling the texture repeatedly will not fix a missing or incompatible dependency.
