Is Falcon BMS free?
Falcon BMS is a community-developed enhancement supplied without a separate BMS charge, but a legitimate Falcon 4.0 licence is mandatory.

Is DCS World’s F-16 free?
The DCS World base simulator can be installed without charge, but its flyable high-fidelity F-16C module is a separate purchase.
Maps and other aircraft may also be separate products. Check the requirements of a mission or multiplayer server before assuming the F-16C module alone gives access to every scenario.
Is Falcon BMS or DCS better for a beginner?
DCS is usually the easier first step, but neither product is a pick-up-and-play F-16 simulator game.
DCS offers a modern interface, clickable cockpit and self-contained training content. BMS also provides training material and a clickable cockpit, but its mission-planning and campaign workflow make more sense after learning the aircraft basics.

What controls do you need for an F-16 cockpit simulator?
A joystick, separate throttle and several hat switches form the practical minimum for serious F-16 flying.
- Flight axes: Bind pitch, roll, throttle and rudder. Pedals are preferable, but a twist-grip joystick is adequate while learning.
- Sensor controls: Map the radar cursor and the target-management, display-management and countermeasure switches. These are used constantly during combat.
- Essential switches: Keep the trigger, weapon release, speedbrake, dogfight or missile-override control, nose-wheel steering and communications within easy reach.
- View control: Head tracking or VR makes it much easier to look through a turn, check the runway and maintain visual contact with another aircraft.
- Cockpit interaction: Use the mouse, keyboard or physical panels for the ICP, multifunction displays, radios and less frequently operated switches.
The real F-16 has a force-sensing side-stick, while most desktop joysticks move through a much larger arc. Start with a near-linear response and add only enough dead zone to suppress unwanted input. Large curves can make formation flying feel gentle around the centre but leave too little precise control near the limits.
A full replica cockpit is not required. If you plan to build one, first confirm that the chosen simulator and interface software can drive the displays, warning lights and switch hardware you intend to use. Test one panel before purchasing an entire cockpit’s worth of controls; software updates and aircraft-specific interfaces matter more than a panel’s appearance.
Why won’t the F-16 controls or weapons work?

Why not use Microsoft Flight Simulator, FSX or X-Plane?
Civilian simulators can reproduce the appearance and basic handling of an F-16, but they do not provide the complete combat environment found in Falcon BMS or DCS.
An add-on may include a detailed model, HUD and some cockpit functions while simplifying radar modes, electronic warfare, datalink, damage and weapons. In some aircraft, missiles and bombs are visual effects rather than systems connected to sensors, launch constraints and target damage.

Can an F-16 flight sim teach real procedures?
