Compare the best Manchester Airport scenery for MSFS, our overall EGCC pick, key alternatives, compatibility checks and common conflict fixes.
For Microsoft Flight Simulator, Macco Simulations’ Manchester Airport (EGCC) is our best all-round released option. It gives EGCC the detailed terminals, aprons and airfield identity missing from the stock airport. UK2000 is the main released alternative; Aether Simulation should only displace either after its previewed scenery is finished and assessed.
Which Manchester Airport add-on should you choose?
Choose Macco Simulations’ EGCC if you want the strongest established upgrade and its listed simulator and platform support match your installation. It is the safest recommendation for regular Manchester operations rather than an occasional visit.
| Option | Best suited to | Main caution |
|---|---|---|
| Macco Simulations EGCC | The best all-round released choice for detailed Manchester flying | Check the represented airport layout, update status and explicit MSFS 2020 or 2024 support |
| UK2000 EGCC | A released alternative to compare for platform availability, visual style and performance | Confirm that its modelled layout matches the period and terminal configuration you want |
| Aether Simulation EGCC | A high-detail option to monitor | Preview images and performance targets are not evidence of final quality |
| Stock EGCC | Occasional visits, minimum storage use and the lowest scenery load | Less airport-specific modelling and local character |
Manchester’s extensive Terminal 2 redevelopment makes the scenery’s represented date unusually important. A beautifully modelled older layout can be less useful than a newer package if you fly present-day schedules, use real-world stands or expect taxiway charts to match exactly. Our broader airport-scenery comparison criteria explain why operational accuracy matters alongside visual detail.
Could Aether Simulation become the best EGCC scenery?
Aether Simulation’s Manchester could become the leading visual rendition, but an unfinished package cannot be named the best downloadable add-on. Our examination of Aether’s Manchester preview covers the proposed terminal detail, surrounding buildings and performance aims.
Before changing our recommendation, we would want to see the finished taxiway and stand layout, working jetways, night lighting, approach-area modelling and performance with complex airliners and traffic enabled. A developer’s performance target is not a benchmark, and polished exterior screenshots reveal little about parking logic or ground operations.
What should you check before buying Manchester scenery?
The correct purchase depends on airport identity, layout date, simulator generation and platform—not screenshots alone.
- Confirm the ICAO code: Manchester Airport in the UK is
EGCC. Do not confuse it with Manchester–Boston Regional Airport,KMHT, when searching product listings. - Check the modelled period: Compare terminals, stands and taxiways with the charts or airline schedules you intend to use.
- Verify simulator support: Look for an explicit statement covering MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 or both. A 2020 package loading in 2024 does not guarantee complete compatibility.
- Inspect operational features: Accurate stand numbering, taxi signs, hold points, runway markings and usable jetways matter more during airline flying than decorative landside buildings.
- Consider performance: Dense terminal geometry, apron vehicles, traffic and a complex airliner all compete for resources. There is no meaningful universal frame-rate figure.
- Check the developer’s support record: Manchester’s changing layout rewards developers who issue corrections and airport updates. We explain the relevant signals in our guide to judging MSFS scenery developers.
Will EGCC scenery work in MSFS 2024 and on consoles?
Compatibility must be confirmed for the exact simulator and platform shown on the product listing. Many PC sceneries created for MSFS 2020 can load in MSFS 2024, but lighting, terrain, jetways, materials or airport services may still need a developer update.
On PC, follow the supplied installer or Community-folder instructions. Xbox and PlayStation users cannot install a conventional PC download; the scenery must be distributed through the simulator’s built-in Marketplace or library for that console. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was never released on PlayStation, so PlayStation users require the MSFS 2024 edition of any scenery.
How do you fix duplicate buildings or broken jetways at EGCC?
Overlapping Manchester packages are the first cause to eliminate when buildings, aprons or jetways appear twice.
- Keep one EGCC rendition active: Disable every other Manchester airport package, including versions bundled inside regional scenery collections.
- Remove obsolete copies: On PC, check that an older edition has not been left in the Community folder after installing an update. Manage Marketplace copies through the simulator’s content library.
- Test the airport alone: Restart Microsoft Flight Simulator and load a default aircraft at EGCC with traffic reduced. Re-enable other add-ons one at a time.
- Clear cached scenery only when justified: If old terrain or buildings remain after conflicting packages are removed, clear the simulator’s rolling cache and restart. Repeated cache deletion is not a general performance fix.
What if the taxiways or gates are still wrong?
An incorrect route is not always caused by the visible scenery model. The airport package, navigation data, ATC routing and ground-service logic can hold different information. If the pavement looks correct but ATC gives a bad route or an aircraft assigns the wrong stand, update the relevant data and test without traffic or ground-service add-ons before blaming EGCC itself.
