Best Tivat Airport (LYTV) scenery add-ons for MSFS?

Adam McEnroe
In short

Compare the best Tivat Airport (LYTV) scenery add-ons for MSFS, including Digital Design and MXI Design, with compatibility and conflict advice.

The best Tivat Airport (LYTV) scenery add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator is Digital Design’s LYTV, our pick for the most complete modelling of the airport and immediate surroundings. MXI Design’s Tivat is the strongest alternative. Install only one LYTV replacement, because overlapping packages commonly cause duplicate buildings, markings and ground textures.

Which Tivat Airport scenery is best?

Digital Design Tivat Airport is the best all-round choice when LYTV will be a regular destination rather than an occasional stop. Its broader airport treatment is particularly valuable at Tivat, where the apron, terminal, coastline and steep surrounding terrain all contribute to the arrival.

MXI Design Tivat AirportBest payware alternativeA focused custom replacement with modelled airport buildings, apron detail and night lightingIt replaces the same airport as Digital Design, so the two must not be installed together
Default airport or a maintained freeware enhancementOccasional visits and lower-spec systemsNo payware commitment; a good freeware edit may correct buildings, parking and ground markingsQuality, maintenance and MSFS 2024 compatibility vary considerably

MXI Design makes more sense when it is the supported option for your platform, or when its particular visual treatment and feature set suit you better. There is little reason to own both unless you deliberately want to compare them: these are competing airport replacements, not complementary layers.

Freeware can be enough if it corrects the terminal, stands and runway environment without introducing terrain problems. Our guide to judging freeware airport replacements explains which details matter and which impressive-looking features tend to cause unnecessary performance loss.

What should a good LYTV scenery include?

A worthwhile Tivat scenery should improve both the airport and its difficult fit within the Bay of Kotor terrain.

  • Clean runway 14/32 geometry: Look for correctly aligned thresholds, believable runway materials and no abrupt bumps or trenches caused by an airport flatten.
  • Accurate apron positions: Parking stands, service roads and ground markings matter more here than animated jetways. Tivat uses apron boarding, so the absence of working jet bridges is not a defect.
  • Convincing terminal modelling: The distinctive terminal frontage and airside buildings should replace generic structures without leaving duplicate objects behind.
  • Terrain and coastline blending: Harsh rectangular aerial-image edges, water climbing the shore or flattened hills are especially visible around Tivat.
  • Controlled night lighting: Apron lighting should remain useful without turning the comparatively compact airport into an oversized pool of light.
  • Sensible performance: Dense terminal interiors offer limited value from the cockpit if they cause stutters during the approach or while turning onto the apron.

Do Tivat scenery add-ons work in MSFS 2024 and on consoles?

Compatibility must be checked for the exact edition and platform you use; a package loading in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 does not by itself mean the developer supports it there.

On PC, manually installed scenery normally goes in the active Community folder, whose location depends on the installation. Marketplace packages are managed by the simulator and should not be moved manually. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 users are limited to scenery released through their platform’s in-simulator Marketplace, and availability may differ between consoles.

Technical compatibility, ownership and storefront availability are separate issues. Before choosing Digital Design or MXI Design, confirm that the listing explicitly covers Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, or both, as appropriate.

How do I prevent duplicate buildings and broken terrain at LYTV?

Most serious Tivat scenery faults come from running two airport replacements or combining an airport with a regional package that contains its own LYTV files.

  1. Remove every competing LYTV package. Search the active content folders for old freeware, previous editions and regional packages that modify Tivat.
  2. Install one airport replacement. Do not merge Digital Design and MXI Design folders or copy individual files between them.
  3. Check regional scenery. Terrain mesh, aerial imagery and Balkan landmark packages may be retained, but disable any included airport layer or conflicting airport flatten.
  4. Restart the simulator fully. Test LYTV in daylight with default weather before restoring other scenery packages one at a time.
  5. Inspect the runway and apron. Floating buildings, double windsocks, flashing ground textures and sunken stands indicate that another package is still taking priority.

If changing the active packages does not solve the problem, use our explanation of scenery order and package priority rather than repeatedly reinstalling the airport.

Will an LYTV scenery add-on improve the approach procedures?

An airport scenery package improves the visual runway environment, but it does not necessarily update navigation data, instrument procedures or aircraft avionics.

If a procedure is missing, a waypoint is misplaced or the flight planner produces an unsuitable arrival, check the simulator’s navigation-data source rather than reinstalling the scenery. The add-on should align its runway with the simulator’s airport and navigation data, but the procedure itself is a separate component.
