Delete or reset all ChasePlane camera views in Microsoft Flight Simulator, preserve wanted profiles and stop deleted presets from returning.
To delete all ChasePlane views, open ChasePlane’s profile or preset manager, select the aircraft profile, remove its saved camera presets—or delete the whole profile—and confirm the change. Repeat for each aircraft or variant. This resets ChasePlane only; Microsoft Flight Simulator’s native custom camera slots are stored separately and will not be erased.
In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, ChasePlane stores views in aircraft-specific profiles or presets. Interface labels vary slightly between ChasePlane builds: an individual camera may be called a view, viewpoint or preset, while the collection may appear as an aircraft profile or aircraft preset.
How do I reset ChasePlane views for one aircraft?
Delete the entire active aircraft profile when you want a clean reset; remove individual viewpoints only when other cameras and profile settings must remain.
- Load the exact aircraft and variant in Microsoft Flight Simulator, then open ChasePlane. Closely related variants can use different profiles, so confirm the aircraft shown by ChasePlane before deleting anything.
- Open the profile or aircraft-preset manager and check which profile is active. Do not assume the visible camera list belongs exclusively to the loaded aircraft; a shared profile may be assigned to several variants.
- Make a backup if required. Export any profile you may want later. Our profile import and restoration guidance explains how to bring that copy back and map it to the correct aircraft.
- Choose the scope of the reset. To retain part of the profile, select its custom viewpoints and use the delete, remove or trash control. If multi-selection is unavailable, remove them individually. For a completely clean camera layout, delete the aircraft profile itself.
- Confirm and reload the aircraft. ChasePlane may create a blank profile or restore protected default cameras when the aircraft loads again. Default entries remaining after the reset do not mean that the deleted custom views have returned.
Deleting a whole profile may also remove profile-specific assignments, transition settings and other adjustments. If only one bad camera needs fixing, deleting that viewpoint is the safer choice.
Which type of camera reset should I use?
Choose the narrowest reset that fixes the problem, especially when a profile is shared between aircraft.

How do I clear ChasePlane views for every aircraft?
Use ChasePlane’s full profile library and remove every user-created aircraft profile; deleting the currently loaded profile is not a global reset.
- Export anything worth keeping before starting, because profile deletion may not offer an undo command.
- Open the complete profile library rather than only the active aircraft’s camera editor.
- Delete all user-created profiles using bulk selection if your ChasePlane build provides it. Otherwise, remove each profile separately. If the library only exposes the active aircraft, load each aircraft or variant and repeat the reset.
- Check shared and imported profiles as well as profiles you created from scratch. A shared preset can repopulate several aircraft even after one aircraft’s assignment is removed.
- Restart ChasePlane and reload the simulator aircraft to confirm that only blank or built-in default views remain.
We do not recommend deleting unidentified ChasePlane data folders as the first remedy. Profile locations and synchronisation behaviour can change between releases, and removing the wrong data can wipe controller settings without clearing a synchronised profile. Reinstalling ChasePlane is also not a reliable reset because user profiles may be retained separately from the application.
Why do deleted ChasePlane views come back?
Deleted views usually return because ChasePlane loads a different profile, restores an imported or synchronised copy, or displays an MSFS native camera that was never deleted.
- Wrong aircraft variant: verify the aircraft identifier and active profile after reloading the flight.
- Another profile is assigned: remove or change the assignment at profile level, not merely the button or keyboard command that recalls the view.
- A backup is being restored: inspect ChasePlane’s profile synchronisation or restoration controls before deleting the local copy again.
- The view is a protected default: built-in cameras may remain or be regenerated when a fresh profile is created.
- The deletion does not survive a restart: confirm that ChasePlane can write to its user-data location and is closing normally after the change.
Does resetting ChasePlane erase MSFS custom cameras?
No. ChasePlane profiles and Microsoft Flight Simulator’s native custom camera slots are independent systems. A mistake we see constantly is resetting one system while a controller or numeric-key assignment continues recalling a view from the other.

Can I restore ChasePlane views after deleting them?
You can restore deleted views only from an exported, imported or synchronised copy; otherwise they must be recreated manually.
