- Run the correct installer. Select the installer branch for your exact Prepar3D version. Install the main application in its normal external location rather than placing the entire program inside the Prepar3D folder, unless its documentation explicitly requires otherwise.
- Confirm the simulator path. Let the installer detect the folder containing the Prepar3D executable. Do not point it at the Prepar3D Documents folder. If P3D is not detected, launch the simulator once and repair its installation registration rather than copying plug-in files at random.

How should I configure Prepar3D weather injection?
Begin with the weather engine's default profile, one weather source and conservative smoothing. This establishes a reliable baseline before turbulence, cloud limits or frequent updates complicate diagnosis.
- Weather source: Choose live weather for present conditions, archived or historical weather for a past flight, and custom weather for training. Check whether the engine follows real UTC, simulator time or its own archive time because this behaviour varies by product.
- Updates and smoothing: Use the default download and injection intervals first. Short intervals and aggressive wind changes can produce sudden pressure, visibility or wind shifts.
- Cloud depiction: Balance the engine's cloud-layer options with Prepar3D's cloud density and draw-distance settings. Raising every setting can reduce performance without making the injected report more accurate.
- Turbulence and icing: Leave these near their default strength until normal weather works. Some aircraft simulate these effects independently, which can exaggerate the result when both systems apply them.
- Competing sources: Disable injection in every other weather suite. Do not load a weather theme or another source after the engine connects, because it may replace the injected atmosphere.
A visual preset is not a second weather engine unless its injection module is enabled. This distinction matters: textures determine appearance, while the weather engine supplies the atmospheric data.
How can I tell whether the weather engine is working?
A working engine reports a live Prepar3D connection and produces conditions that broadly match its own weather report after a complete update cycle.
- Load at an airport for which the engine displays a recent report.
- Compare surface wind direction and speed, pressure, visibility, precipitation and cloud layers.
- Move to a distant airport or load a clearly different custom scenario, then request or wait for another injection.
- Check that the conditions change without a second utility immediately replacing them.
Exact visual agreement is not expected. Prepar3D interpolates conditions between reporting stations, while cloud rendering and visibility limits cannot reproduce every line of a report literally. Pressure, wind and broad cloud coverage are better connection checks than the position of an individual cloud.

Why do I still get clear skies or default weather?
Clear skies usually mean the engine connected but did not download or inject usable data. Check its weather-source status, offline mode, date and time selection, then trigger one fresh update. Also disable any second injector or theme that may be clearing the weather afterwards.
Why do wind and pressure change suddenly?
Abrupt changes are commonly caused by two engines, very short update intervals or disabled smoothing. Return to the default profile, enable reasonable transition smoothing and test with only one injector. Sparse reporting stations can still cause a noticeable transition as the simulator enters a different weather area.
Why does Prepar3D crash after installing the engine?
