Why is KATL to EGLL a strong long-haul route?
KATL–EGLL combines a busy five-runway departure airport, North Atlantic navigation and a procedure-heavy arrival at London Heathrow. It is long enough for realistic wide-body operations but more manageable than an ultra-long-haul sector.
Eastbound flights are commonly planned overnight, while westbound flights usually take longer because of prevailing winds. The precise Atlantic crossing varies by day and direction. Some flights use part of the organised track system, while others fly a random route outside it; a copied track is not a permanent KATL–EGLL route.
Use a 767, A330, A350, 777, 787 or another aircraft with appropriate range and performance. If reproducing a named real-world service, match the aircraft to that flight and date rather than assuming the same type operates every departure. - Confusing London airports:
EGLLis Heathrow. A route to Gatwick, Luton or Stansted is a different airport pair with different procedures. - Mixing AIRAC cycles: a valid route from one cycle may contain renamed fixes or withdrawn procedures in another.
