Fix World Traffic 3 not showing moving AI aircraft in X-Plane by checking plugin loading, model folders, flight generation, sync and airport routes.
World Traffic 3 usually shows no moving AI aircraft in X-Plane because the plugin has not loaded, flights were not generated or synchronised, the separate aircraft library is missing, or the airport has no usable taxi routes and parking positions. Check those four areas in that order; each has a recognisable symptom.
What does each World Traffic 3 symptom mean?
The plugin's own flight information is the quickest way to separate a traffic-generation problem from a missing-model or airport-routing problem.
| Symptom | Likely cause | First check |
|---|---|---|
| No World Traffic entry under X-Plane's Plugins menu | The core plugin did not load | Installation path and Log.txt |
| World Traffic opens, but no active flights are listed | Flights were not created, synchronised or permitted by the traffic settings | Flight setup, simulation time and traffic filters |
| Flights and callsigns are listed, but no aircraft are visible | Aircraft objects or type definitions are missing | The World Traffic aircraft-library folders |
| Aircraft appear at stands but never taxi | Pause, replay mode, invalid ground routes or unusable airport data | Simulation state and the airport's taxi network |
| Aircraft move in 3D but do not appear on TCAS | Another plugin owns the TCAS interface | Traffic-plugin conflicts |
How do I restore moving World Traffic 3 aircraft?
- Confirm that the core plugin loaded. Open X-Plane's Plugin Admin screen and check that World Traffic is present and enabled. Its normal core location is inside
Resources/plugins/WorldTraffic; an extra nested folder created during extraction can prevent loading. Also make sure you installed it into the same X-Plane copy that you launch. - Read the loading error in Log.txt. Close X-Plane, open
Log.txtin the simulator's root folder and search for World Traffic or ClassicJetSimUtils. Missing files, incompatible plugin binaries and operating-system security blocks normally appear near the first loading failure. On Linux, file and folder capitalisation matters. - Check the separate aircraft library. Installing the core plugin alone does not necessarily install its models. A typical World Traffic installation has
AircraftTypesandAircraftObjectsunderClassicJetSimUtils/WorldTraffic. If another copy ofClassicJetSimUtilsis nested inside that folder, move the package into the structure specified by its installer rather than moving individual model files. - Create or load traffic. Use World Traffic's flight-setup or traffic-generation controls, select the required airport or route, and run the flight-creation command. Menu wording differs between releases, but generating flights is separate from merely loading at an airport. Wait for generation to finish before judging the result.
- Synchronise after changing time or location. If you alter X-Plane's clock, date or airport after flights have been created, use World Traffic's resynchronisation command or regenerate the flights. Scheduled traffic may legitimately produce little activity at a small airport and time with no suitable departures.
- Check density and category filters. Traffic volume must be above zero, and commercial, cargo or general-aviation filters must not exclude the traffic expected at that airport. A very low aircraft limit can also leave the immediate airport empty while the available slots are used elsewhere.
Use a World Traffic build and aircraft package intended for your X-Plane generation. Copying an old X-Plane 11 installation wholesale into X-Plane 12 can leave the plugin unloaded or its models incompatible. If flights are listed but their models remain invisible, our folder and extraction checks for missing add-on aircraft cover the same nested-directory and incomplete-file problems.
Why are World Traffic aircraft visible but parked?
Visible aircraft that remain stationary usually point to the simulator state or airport ground data rather than the aircraft library.
- Resume normal simulation: leave pause and replay mode, then check whether World Traffic's flight information shows the aircraft's ground speed changing.
- Disable X-Plane's parked aircraft: the
Draw parked aircraftoption creates static scenery aircraft, not World Traffic flights. They can occupy stands needed by the plugin and are easily mistaken for failed AI traffic. - Test a default airport: some custom airports look detailed but lack valid taxi routes, parking types or runway connections. If traffic moves at a well-defined default airport, the original scenery's airport-routing data is the likely cause.
- Rebuild airport routing where supported: use the ground-route or airport-data tools supplied with the installed World Traffic release. A broken taxi network can allow aircraft to spawn at a gate without giving them a valid path to the runway.
- Allow for real ground delays: an aircraft may wait for its departure time, runway flow or other traffic. Check several listed flights rather than watching one stand for a few seconds.
Does World Traffic 3 need X-Plane's own AI aircraft?
Adding native X-Plane AI aircraft does not generate missing World Traffic flights. World Traffic creates and controls its own traffic; older simulator and plugin combinations may use multiplayer slots or placeholder aircraft for TCAS, while newer combinations can allow the plugin to control TCAS directly.
Follow the instructions supplied with the installed release for TCAS integration, but do not fill the native AI list as a general fix. Run only one traffic injector while testing, because competing plugins can fight for TCAS control and aircraft slots. Our wider X-Plane traffic troubleshooting checklist explains the relevant plugin, model-path and TCAS conflict checks.
What should I test before reinstalling World Traffic 3?
A controlled airport test usually identifies the faulty component faster than reinstalling everything.
- Start X-Plane at a default airport with a complete taxi network.
- Use normal simulation speed, with pause and replay disabled.
- Disable other traffic injectors and turn off
Draw parked aircraft. - Create flights, synchronise them to the simulator time and open World Traffic's flight list.
- If flights are listed but invisible, repair the aircraft library. If they are visible but stationary, investigate airport routing. If no flights are listed, return to flight generation, schedules and filters.
If the controlled test works, the core plugin is functioning and the original airport, scenery package or traffic configuration is responsible. Reinstalling World Traffic will not repair missing taxi-network data in a custom airport.
