Missoula’s eight approaches are concentrated on two of its four runway ends. The mix of two ILS, four RNAV (GPS) and two VOR procedures provides several instrument guidance methods, but not approach coverage for every landing direction. Three departure procedures and a separate obstacle departure procedure add substantial outbound guidance to the set.
Runway 12/30, at 9,501 ft, is more than twice the length of 08/26, giving the field two markedly different runway-length options. Nearby procedure coverage is much thinner: Ronan and Ravalli County have the broadest sets at five charts each, while Stevensville and Lincoln have only two.
