Go PROThe Canadian border caps a broad sweep from the Idaho Panhandle and eastern Washington across the Northern Rockies to central Montana. The western and southern portions are dominated by mountain chains, forested valleys and the Continental Divide, while the land opens markedly east of the Rocky Mountain Front into rolling prairie and plains. Routes crossing the area can pass between confined mountain terrain, broad intermontane basins and much more open country within a single sheet.
Westbound coverage continues on the Seattle sectional, with Billings taking over to the east. Along the southern margin, the adjoining sequence is Klamath Falls to the south-west, Salt Lake City directly south and Cheyenne to the south-east. Those joins matter for longer crossings of Idaho and Montana, where an east–west route may leave the Great Falls sheet on either Seattle or Billings, while a route bending towards the Great Basin or Wyoming moves into one of the southern neighbours.
