Two-ended RNAV coverage

Perry Stokes has one RNAV (GPS) approach for each of two runway ends, so published arrival coverage is divided between two directions rather than concentrated on a single end. The procedure set is otherwise compact: an obstacle departure procedure accompanies the approaches, while no airport diagram is published.

Runways and regional context

Both runways are 5,500 ft long, so neither provides additional length; the main distinction is the asphalt surface on 03/21 versus turf-gravel on 09/27. Raton Municipal/Crews Field and Spanish Peaks Airfield each have four published charts, giving both nearby fields similarly compact coverage. The Denver and Wichita sectionals add broader VFR context beyond the terminal procedures.

Common questions about KTAD

What charts are available for KTAD?

5 current FAA charts for Perry Stokes, including 2 instrument approachs. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for KTAD?

CTAF 122.8. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at KTAD?

Perry Stokes has 2 runways. The longest is 03/21 at 5,500 ft by 75 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does KTAD have an ILS approach?

No ILS is published. In total KTAD has 2 published instrument approaches, of which 2 are RNAV (GPS).

How high is KTAD?

The field elevation is 5,761 ft. At that height the air is thin enough to matter: take-off and landing distances are longer than the same aircraft would need at sea level, and the effect worsens as temperature rises. The approach charts carry the altitudes that apply.

Is KTAD a towered airport?

No — Perry Stokes has no control tower. Traffic co-ordinates on a common frequency rather than with a controller, which is listed in the frequencies table on this page.

Are these KTAD charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
