Rockies to High Plains

Denver anchors the eastern side of a sheet extending from the High Plains deep into the central and southern Rockies. It covers much of Colorado, eastern Utah, north-eastern Arizona, northern New Mexico and part of western Kansas. The Front Range, rugged mountain chains and high desert plateaux give way eastwards to broad plains, making the sheet particularly useful for routes crossing sharply contrasting terrain.

Continuing beyond the sheet

Westbound coverage connects with Las Vegas, with Salt Lake City to the north-west and Phoenix to the south-west. Wichita continues the coverage eastwards, while Albuquerque lies to the south-east and Cheyenne to the north-east. These adjoining sheets support longer routes running between the Colorado Plateau, the Rocky Mountains and the central plains.

Regional and metropolitan coverage

The sectional provides the wider regional setting around Denver and the surrounding mountain-and-plains corridor. A Terminal Area Chart also covers the metropolitan area at a larger scale and with a tighter geographic focus, complementing the broader view presented here.

Common questions

What area does the Denver Sectional Chart cover?

It spans 35.3°N to 40.1°N and 112.0°W to 103.7°W. Airports on the sheet fall within Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. The full list of public-use airports within its coverage is on this page.

Should I download the GeoTIFF or the PDF?

Take the GeoTIFF if you are loading the chart into moving-map software or a flight planner — it is georeferenced, so the software can place it correctly on a map, and it ships with a world file and FGDC metadata at 300 dpi (76.9 MB). Take the PDF to print it or read it on a second screen (159.8 MB); it is the same chart without georeferencing.

Is this the current Denver chart?

This is the FAA edition effective 9 July 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. Visual charts are reissued every 56 days and we publish each new edition on the day it takes effect. It is for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.

Which charts adjoin the Denver sheet?

Albuquerque to the south-east, Las Vegas to the west, Wichita to the east, Phoenix to the south-west, Cheyenne to the north-east and Salt Lake City to the north-west. Each is linked from this page, so a route running off one edge can be continued on the next sheet.

Is the Denver Sectional Chart free to download?

Yes, with no account required. FAA charts are United States Government works and are not subject to copyright protection in the US under 17 U.S.C. § 105. Guest downloads are speed-capped, so a sheet this size takes a while; PRO members download at full line speed and can take the whole family as one archive.
