Limited instrument coverage

Platinum’s procedure set centres on a single RNAV (GPS) approach serving only one end of runway 14/32. The opposite end has no published approach, so instrument arrivals are concentrated on one direction. The sole 5,000 ft gravel-dirt runway also leaves no alternative alignment, while its surface is a material consideration when matching an aircraft to the field.

Nearby chart coverage

Cape Newenham LRRS has the broadest nearby chart set, although its five published charts are only modestly more numerous than Platinum’s three. Togiak and Quinhagak each have four, placing all three nearby fields within a similarly limited range of chart coverage. The Kodiak Sectional provides the broader VFR context not contained in Platinum’s lone instrument approach.

Are these PAPM charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
