Editorial
Sometimes, as I fly around the wonderful world created within FSX, I can feel that it’s missing something; that it’s a little bare.
Whilst the simulator does all of the aircraft related things that I need to have some fun as a pilot and does them with supreme confidence, the materialist in me looks around the world – and the aircraft – at times and just wonders if everything could look that little bit better. As such, my FSX program is loaded with more add-ons and extras than I can count!
What I do have, though, is an ability to understand the fact that the textures are always improving thanks to what fans release – take this brilliant FSX USAF Boeing C-17 “Sound of Freedom” package set.
This introduces fresh new textures for the C-17 created by the wonderful Mike Stone, and when combined together makes a suitable wonderful collection of images and extras that really do help to bring a stunning model to full volume and life. The additions included in these packages go a long way to making sure that your C-17 flights can feel much more authentic thanks to the excellent work being put into the designs.
This package will totally design the aircraft to ensure it flies in the famous colors of the 437 Air Wing Charleston AFB. These nice little extras do everything they can to bring the aircraft to life and make the whole thing look sharper and smoother than it ever has in the past.
Another nice take on this has been the fact that the C-17 now carries some rather wonderful smoke effects, as well. They come out of the aircraft with precision and realism and make sure that your flights can have that extra added little bit of reality to ensure the whole thing comes together in the right way. This was designed by the excellent Rooks Design Graphics, who provide a wealth of excellent options and solutions for flight simulation products.
In general, this complete new model does a wonderful job of selling and promoting the look and the feel of the C-17. By celebrating the excellent work carried out by Mark Rooks, this texture set does everything it can to make it be easy to get to grips with this lovable rogue and of an aircraft. Whilst this package may not edit or improve the performance at all, it certainly felt far more authentic when put into this kind of package.
The whole thing feels suitably excellent, and does a truly wonderful job of promoting and improving the quality and conditioning of your overall aircraft experience. If you wish to see how the C-17 should look with the right textures, you should come down and try this out as it will make a spectacular difference to the overall realism provided here with this wonderful C-17 mod.

This is confirmed as a great plane. If you want to see an HD video of how good this plane looks in action check it out. It looks much better than the picture.
