Does FSX: Steam Edition run better on an older PC?
FSX: Steam Edition does not transform weak hardware into a faster computer. It contains compatibility changes and fixes, but the underlying simulator remains heavily dependent on processor performance.
The practical difference may be installation rather than frame rate. Boxed FSX needs working discs, activation and the correct service updates; Steam Edition requires a Windows version supported by the Steam client. On a very old operating system, that client requirement can decide which edition is usable.
Will FSX add-ons work on the same older PC?
