FSX Piaggio PD-808 V2.2

Piaggio’s PD-808 comes to life in FSX with SDK-compliant modeling, DX10 testing, and fly-on-the-numbers handling backed by advanced engine management, realistic systems, and selective failure behavior. A fully modeled 3D virtual cockpit with selectable floodlighting, plus a 2D panel, custom animations, tailored effects, and included sounds round out the package.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

A true FSX SDK compliant aircraft. DX10 tested. This is a complete simulation of the Piaggio PD808. It includes advanced engine management, realistic systems, and some failure modeling. The model features a complete 3D virtual cockpit, and a 2D panel. Sounds are included. The external model features all typical animations plus a load of custom ones. Also includes all custom special effects, including different selectable floodlights for the virtual cockpit (by simply flicking ON the proper light switch on the cockpit itself). Plus with a fly-on-the-numbers flight dynamics file. Includes full documentation. By Mario Noriega.

Installation:

IMPORTANT: if you had the previous V2.0 for FS-X, please uninstall! go to "[your Flight simulator X directory]\SimObjects\Airplanes" And delete the folders "PD808_shared", "PD808RM", "PD808GE1" & "PD808GE2" if present. Otherwise you may encounter texture problems!

Decompress the archive in your main FS-X directory. Launch FS-X. Select Piaggio, PD-808, then your favorite paint scheme. You're done! Documentation can be found directly in-sim with a quick dynamic checklist & FS kneeboard. A more detailed flight manual is available under "[your Flight simulator X directory]\SimObjects\Airplanes\PD808_shared\Documents\PD-808 Flight Manual - V2.1.pdf" If you can't find the file, do a Windows search... it has not been possible to link it inside FlightSim's kneeboard because PDF files are not supported at the point that they send FS into a crash.

You can choose between 4/3 and Widescreen panel. By default Widescreen is installed. To re-install the 4/3 panels, navigate to [FS-X]/SimObjects/Airplanes/PD808_shared, and run panel_select.bat. Choose between the offered options: 1.QUIT; 2. 16/9 Widescreen; 3. 4/3 panel.

Also, you can select shadow mapping for the virtual cockpits (ON by default via the ShadowMap_select.bat: 1. QUIT; 2. Shadow Mapping ON; 3. Shadow Mapping OFF.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    I can't believe this model only got a 1-star rating. I wish I had an operation manual so I could study it. I personally like aircraft that are realistic in operation. The author has done a nice job building this model.
