Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This carefully crafted repaint delivers an immersive MAT Macedonian Airlines visual scheme for the Boeing 747-400 within Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It adds localized flair to long-haul operations without overburdening system resources and showcases a unique livery designed by Jon Murchison. Downloaders should note this release includes textures only and requires the default 747-400 model in FSX. Below are more insights into this repaint, the airline, and the aircraft.

Prominent Livery Enhancements

The updated textures emphasize the recognizable MAT Macedonian Airlines branding, with refined details along the fuselage and tail surfaces. Small markings, such as window outlines and fuselage panels, have been recolored to match the airline’s real-world aesthetic. This refined approach ensures accurate placement of text-based logos and stripes so that every angle remains consistent with the carrier’s official scheme.

Flight Deck Compatibility

Because these textures integrate with the default Boeing 747-400 in Microsoft Flight Simulator X, the interior cockpit layout remains unaffected. While this repaint focuses on the exterior surfaces, the liveries blend with standard FSX avionics, ensuring seamless compatibility and preserving default flight instrumentation. Pilots can still leverage FSX’s native features like autopilot management and advanced aircraft systems without any disruptions.

Background on MAT Macedonian Airlines

MAT Macedonian Airlines once served as a major carrier operating routes that connected Southeast Europe with other international destinations. This repaint captures the airline’s distinctive style, reflecting both historical and regional influences. It demonstrates Macedonia’s aviation heritage through a dynamic livery that is easily noticeable at airport gates and taxiways across FSX’s global scenery.

Aircraft Characteristics

The Boeing 747-400 is prominently recognized for its four-engine layout, extensive range, and spacious passenger capacity. It has a signature hump-backed upper deck and a stretched range capability that allows it to serve intercontinental routes. By applying this repaint to the default 747-400 model, sim pilots can replicate the MAT Macedonian Airlines experience on virtual long-distance services.

Installation and Requirements

  1. Acquire the base freeware 747-400 model from the Fly Away Simulation library if you do not already have Microsoft Flight Simulator X’s default version.
  2. Place the provided texture folder into the default 747-400 directory according to the included readme instructions.
  3. Update the aircraft configuration file by adding the new repaint entry, ensuring it references the correct texture folder path.
  4. Confirm the repaint availability in FSX’s aircraft selection menu before loading into your simulator environment.

This software only supplies the external textures. It does not include the full 747-400 model, so please make sure you have the default 747 files intact before proceeding.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
