FSX USMC F/A-18E Hornet

USMC VMFA(AW)-225 “Vikings” F/A-18E Superbug livery brings a Marine Corps-inspired scheme to the Vertical Reality Simulations jet with crisp squadron markings and a clean, operational finish for FSX. The repaint delivers textures only and requires the Vertical Reality Simulations F/A-18E package.

USMC F/A-18E Hornet. This is a repaint of the Vertical Reality Simulations F/A-18E "Superbug". These textures represent a Hornet of VMFA (AW) 225, "Vikings" that is based at MCAS Miramar. Currently VMFA (AW) 225 is not flying the "E" variant so this is a fictitious texture. The textures are those of an artist interpretation and resulting rendition. Repaint by Russel R. Smith.

This is a repaint of the Vertical Reality Simulations F/A-18E "Superbug". THESE ARE TEXTURES ONLY! You need Vertical Reality Simulations payware package.

Extract the files to a temporary location; not in the "VRS_FA-18E" folder. Make sure "Use Folder Names" is checked so it will create the "VMFA(AW)225_Line" folder when you extract the files.

Run the Vertical Reality Simulations Aircraft Configuration Manager. Import the livery and save the changes, it should now appear in your aircaft list.

The changed repainted files are the copyright of Russel R. Smith. All unaltered files are the property of Vertical Reality Simulations.

This file is to be uploaded to www.avsim.com and www.flightsim.com only. I will consider uploading to other sites if requested.

If you have any photos of F/A-18Es and want to share them with me I would appreciate it.

I would all so like to here your comments concerning the textures. Good, bad or indifferent. A comment would be appreciated.

Russel R. Smith.

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
