FSX / P3D scenery

FSX Lincoln Cathedral Scenery

Lincoln Cathedral scenery places a convincing cathedral landmark in Lincoln, UK for FSX, aligned to match Horizon VFR scenery for seamless integration with surrounding terrain. Built by relocating an existing cathedral model into the correct position, it adds an authentic visual reference for VFR navigation and city overflights.

"Lincoln" Cathedral (Lincoln - UK) for FSX
This is a fake - all I did is: I placed a copy of Canterbury Cathedral (from landmarks.bgl in the FS scenery/global/scenery directory) at the location of Lincoln Cathedral. But the two resemble one another quite a bit in shape and proportions (pls. refer to the two JPEGs showing the view from the south). So I hope, the purists among you will forgive me.

The Cathedral is aligned with Horizon's VFR scenery!

SBuilderX 3.13 was used to place the object and compile the BGL.

To install unzip lincoln.zip to the place where you keep your add-ons. Ensure that the directory structure is kept. Unzipping will create a LINCOLN subdirectory with a SCENERY and DOCUMENTATIONS directory below. Alternatively unzip to a place of your choice and then move the files to your add-on directory. Activate the normal way.

This scenery is freeware and must not be mis-used to make money!

Have fun

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.
  3. Activate in Scenery Library

In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

Hi. Thanks to C Grimsel for providing the 'Lincoln Cathedral' download. I initially downloaded this file when I used VFR Photo Scenery and, especially when flying from RAF Waddington & RAF Scampton, it made the whole experience far more realistic to me. Living close to both of these bases in real life makes being able to see the Cathedral an essential landmark. I now use REX4 scenery & I am pleased to say that your 'Lincoln Cathedral' works well with this texture as well. Great work and thanks for your efforts. 5 stars!
