Editorial

I have to admit that the first time I ever heard about the Sky Car, I burst out laughing. It seemed to be something from an old PC game in the past, and it felt really awkward to try and get used to being inside. However, within about an hour of messing around and getting used to my rather unique surroundings, I soon fell in love with the sky care.

It comes with a very advanced VTOL system with four engine pods and eight engines respectively. This makes it possible to fly the little thing, giving us something that feels akin to a futuristic car. It flies with real ease and it handles itself far better than I ever imagined it would. I expected something cheap and nasty and instead was dealt with by the aviation equivalent of royalty!

It’s exceptionally easy to fly with and the range of extra little changes and additions to the model and the package makes it great fun to fly around with. The folded wings and rotating engine pods also made it look great, adding a bit of animated life to the package as it flies. It’s these small little changes and additions that bring the whole thing together and make something which is really easy to commit to enjoying.

The animations are brilliant, too! Each animation does a great job of bringing the whole thing to life and working in tandem. Indeed, the whole system uses the power of swing doors, animated gears with turning wheels and a 360 degree virtual cockpit. The animations that you see as all of this unfolds around you really does make it quite simple to buy into the realism of this design – it might seem a crazy idea today, but we all know that these will be on the market eventually!

They look positively sensational and thy do a wonderful job of delivering a fair and professional take on what you would expect the real thing to look like, perform like, and fly like. I was majorly impressed with the way that it worked as well; the operation of the aircraft was a piece of cake to get my head around. Whilst I hope that I get a chance to see a more refined edition of this car, it offers something that will eventually lead to a wholesale change in what aviation brings to the table.
