3. Create a custom preset. Duplicate the default keyboard preset or create a new one. The stock preset may be read-only, in which case the simulator requires a custom copy before it will retain changes.
4. Find the command. Change the filter to show all commands if it is displaying assigned inputs only, then search using the function name, such as brake, pitch trim or landing light. • The Fn key may not be bindable. On many laptops, Fn is handled by the keyboard hardware and is not exposed to the simulator as an independent modifier. Use the scan function to see what MSFS actually receives.
• Avoid hidden conflicts. Compact layouts often reuse arrow, navigation and symbol keys. Check camera, cockpit and flight-control categories before accepting the same key elsewhere.
