What do you install to play DCS World?
You install DCS World first and then add the content you want to use. A common mistake is treating an aircraft or terrain module as a stand-alone application.
- Choose your PC edition. DCS World is offered through Steam and as a standalone installation. Their accounts and licence workflows differ, so do not assume purchases can be moved freely in both directions; compare Steam and standalone DCS World before building a module library.

- Add compatible content. You need access to the aircraft or helicopter you intend to fly and the terrain used by the mission. You do not normally need to own every aircraft visible in a mission, although individual missions and servers may specify additional dependencies.
Storage use can grow substantially as maps and aircraft are added. Check the required disk space before installing several modules, and leave room for application updates and temporary installation files.
Can you play Digital Combat Simulator World on PS5?
DCS World has no native PlayStation 5 or Xbox version; it is a Windows PC simulator. References to a “DCS game” do not indicate a console edition, even though controllers can be configured for the PC application.
