Which aircraft are included in Microsoft Flight Simulator X?
Microsoft Flight Simulator X includes 18 core aircraft in the boxed Standard edition. Deluxe adds three more airframes and G1000-equipped variants, while Acceleration adds the F/A-18A Hornet, P-51D Mustang and EH101 helicopter. FSX: Steam Edition and boxed FSX Gold combine the Deluxe and Acceleration fleets.

Published totals sometimes differ because FSX may count a different cockpit, undercarriage configuration or repaint as an aircraft variation. The lists below separate the actual aircraft types from those variations.
Which aircraft are included in FSX Standard?
The boxed FSX Standard edition provides 18 aircraft types spanning airliners, light aeroplanes, helicopters, gliders and an ultralight.
- Airliners: Airbus A321, Boeing 737-800, Boeing 747-400 and Bombardier CRJ700
- Business and utility aircraft: Beechcraft King Air 350, Bombardier Learjet 45 and Cessna 208B Grand Caravan
- General aviation: Beechcraft Baron 58, Cessna 172SP Skyhawk, Extra 300S, Maule M7-260C Orion, Mooney M20M Bravo and Piper J-3 Cub
- Helicopter: Bell 206B JetRanger
- Historic aircraft: Douglas DC-3
- Gliders and ultralight: AirCreation 582SL Trike Ultralight, DG Flugzeugbau DG-808S and Schweizer SGS 2-32
The Maule is available in wheeled and ski-equipped configurations. FSX may show these separately, even though both represent the same basic airframe.
What aircraft does FSX Deluxe add?
FSX Deluxe adds three distinct aircraft types plus glass-cockpit versions of aircraft already present in Standard.
- de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver
- Grumman G-21A Goose
- Robinson R22 Beta II
- G1000-equipped variants of the Beechcraft Baron 58, Cessna 172SP Skyhawk and Mooney Bravo
The Beaver and Goose add amphibious operations, while the R22 provides a lighter and more responsive alternative to the Bell 206B. A G1000 version is a cockpit configuration, not a separate airframe, which explains why some FSX aircraft lists quote different totals.
Which aircraft does FSX Acceleration add?
The Acceleration expansion contributes three aircraft not supplied with Standard or Deluxe alone.
- Boeing F/A-18A Hornet: a fast military jet used for carrier and other expansion missions
- North American P-51D Mustang: the expansion's historic racing and warbird aircraft
- AgustaWestland EH101: a large multi-engine helicopter
FSX does not turn the Hornet or Mustang into combat aircraft with a complete weapons system. They are conventional FSX flyable models built around the expansion's carrier, racing and mission features.
Which FSX edition includes every default aircraft?
FSX Gold and FSX: Steam Edition contain the fullest stock fleet because both combine Deluxe content with the Acceleration aircraft.
A boxed Deluxe installation does not include the Hornet, Mustang or EH101 unless Acceleration was installed separately. This edition mix-up is the most common reason a simmer expects to see those three aircraft but cannot find them.
Why are some default FSX aircraft missing?
Missing stock aircraft usually result from an edition mismatch, an active selection filter or damaged configuration files.
- Confirm the edition. Standard and Deluxe do not contain the complete Gold or Steam fleet. For a boxed installation, check that Acceleration is actually installed.
- Clear aircraft filters. Open the aircraft-selection window, select all manufacturers and categories, and enable Show all variations where available. This exposes hidden liveries and alternate configurations.
- Check the stock folders. Fixed-wing aircraft normally reside in
SimObjects\Airplanes, while helicopters useSimObjects\Rotorcraft. A missing folder or damagedaircraft.cfgentry can prevent an aircraft from appearing. - Repair the installation. Steam users can verify the installed game files through the client. Boxed users should use the disc's repair option or reinstall the affected expansion, taking care to back up modified aircraft first.
Can more aircraft be added to FSX?
Yes. FSX supports additional freeware and commercial aircraft as well as repaints for its default fleet. A repaint changes the appearance rather than adding a new flight model. For example, the included Boeing can use our collection of liveries for the stock FSX 737-800.
