Make the MSFS 2024 toolbar bigger by changing UI scale, resizing panels and fixing tiny or clipped toolbar icons on PC, Xbox and PS5.
To make the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 toolbar bigger, open Settings, find the Accessibility or Interface options, and raise the UI or interface scale, then apply the change. This enlarges the whole interface, including toolbar icons. For a toolbar panel rather than the icon strip, open it and drag its edge or corner to resize it.
How to increase the MSFS 2024 toolbar size
- Open Settings from the main menu or pause menu.
- Find the interface scaling control. Look under Accessibility or Interface for a setting named
UI Scale,Interface Scaleor similar. The category wording can vary between platforms and simulator updates. - Increase the scale gradually. Move it up one step rather than immediately selecting the maximum.
- Apply and save the change, then return to the flight and move the pointer to the top of the screen to reveal the toolbar.
- Check the opened panels. If ATC, weather or another panel is now too large, resize that panel separately by dragging an available edge or corner.
The toolbar hides until the pointer approaches the top of the screen. Controller users may need to enter cursor mode first. Our guide to revealing, arranging and pinning MSFS toolbar panels covers those controls separately.
Can I enlarge only the toolbar icons?
MSFS 2024 generally uses its global interface scale for the top toolbar rather than providing an independent icon-size slider. Increasing it can also enlarge menus, tooltips, notifications and built-in toolbar panels.
| What looks too small | Setting or action to use |
|---|---|
| Top toolbar icons | Increase UI or interface scale |
| ATC, weather or another open panel | Drag the panel edge or corner |
| Third-party toolbar window | Use its own scaling option or resize its window |
| Toolbar cut off by the television | Correct safe area or overscan |
Why is a toolbar panel still the wrong size?
Built-in and third-party panels do not all obey the global UI scale in the same way. A resizable panel must be adjusted by dragging its border, while some add-ons provide their own text or window scaling controls.
If a panel has become so large that its resize handle is off-screen, temporarily reduce the interface scale, move and resize the panel, then restore your preferred scale. For the common add-on-specific case, see our steps for correcting an oversized GSX Pro toolbar window.
What if the toolbar is clipped on Xbox or a TV?
A clipped toolbar is usually a safe-area or television overscan problem, not a toolbar-size problem. Increasing UI scale may make the clipping worse.
Check the console's display calibration and the television's picture-size or overscan setting. We explain the relevant adjustments in our MSFS Xbox screen-size and safe-area guide.
Why did changing render scaling do nothing?
Render scaling does not control toolbar size. It changes the resolution used to draw the 3D scene, affecting image sharpness and performance, while the interface is composited separately. A mistake we see constantly is reducing render scale and ending up with a blurrier cockpit but exactly the same tiny toolbar.
On PC, lowering the simulator's output resolution can make the interface occupy more of the physical screen, but it also sacrifices image clarity. Use the dedicated UI or interface scale first; resolution changes are a last resort when the interface control is unavailable or already at its limit.
