Fix an oversized GSX Pro window in MSFS by resizing the toolbar panel, correcting display scaling and recovering controls stuck off-screen.
To fix an oversized GSX Pro window in Microsoft Flight Simulator, restore the GSX toolbar panel if it is maximised, then drag an edge or the lower-right corner inward. If its border is off-screen, switch MSFS temporarily to Windowed mode at your monitor’s native resolution, resize the panel, close it and reopen it.
These steps apply to PC installations of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. The panel controls differ slightly between simulator builds, but the same display and scaling checks apply.
Which GSX window is oversized?
The correct fix depends on whether the large window belongs to the MSFS toolbar or to a separate Windows utility.

How do I resize the GSX in-sim panel?
The embedded GSX menu should resize like other Microsoft Flight Simulator toolbar panels.
- Open GSX from the toolbar. If the toolbar workflow is unfamiliar, our walkthrough of the GSX panel and service menu explains how it should open and behave.
- Restore the panel. If its upper corner shows a restore control rather than a maximise control, select it to return the panel to a floating size.
- Expose an edge. Drag the panel by its title bar towards the centre of the screen so that at least one side and the lower-right corner are visible.
- Drag the outer frame inward. Wait for the resize pointer to appear, then drag the edge or corner. Grabbing the menu’s scroll bar or empty content area will not resize the panel.
- Close and reopen GSX. Check that the new dimensions are retained, then exit MSFS normally so it has an opportunity to save the panel state.
Do not reinstall GSX or delete simulator packages merely to correct panel geometry. A window that resizes normally is not evidence of a damaged GSX installation.
What if the GSX panel edge is off-screen?
An inaccessible border usually means MSFS started at a different resolution, display scale or monitor arrangement from the one used when the panel was last positioned.
- Toggle Windowed mode. On PC,
Alt+Enternormally switches between full-screen and Windowed modes. - Use the monitor’s native resolution. Select it in the simulator’s display or graphics options; a lower output resolution leaves less room for toolbar panels.
- Move MSFS to the primary monitor. This is especially useful when two monitors use different Windows scaling percentages.
- Reset interface scaling. Return any changed MSFS interface, text-size or accessibility scaling option to its default, then reopen GSX.
- Resize before restoring full-screen mode. Once the panel fits, return to your preferred display mode and check it again.
Changing Render Scaling, anti-aliasing or upscaling will not normally help. Those settings affect the rendered 3D image rather than the size and position of toolbar windows.
Is the oversized window the GSX desktop configurator?
A GSX installer or configuration utility outside the simulator is controlled by Windows DPI scaling, not by the MSFS toolbar.
- Close the utility, open Windows Display settings and confirm that the monitor uses its native resolution.
- If Windows scaling is unusually high, reduce it temporarily, reopen the utility and reposition the window.
- For a partly off-screen standard window, select it and press
Alt+Space, thenM; use the arrow keys to move it and pressEnter. - If a compatibility override was previously applied, open the utility shortcut’s Properties, check its high-DPI compatibility settings and clear that override first. Do not apply utility-specific DPI changes to the Microsoft Flight Simulator executable.
Why is the GSX content still clipped after resizing?
A correctly sized frame with overlapping, blank or unresponsive GSX content points to a panel or Couatl problem rather than window geometry.
- If all MSFS toolbar panels remain too large, correct the simulator and Windows scaling before touching GSX.
- If only the GSX content fails to reflow, follow our GSX update and repair procedure so the toolbar package and Couatl components match.
- If GSX becomes blank or will not reopen after closing it, use the broader GSX and Couatl startup checks. Restarting Couatl may recover a failed panel, but it does not normally correct an oversized frame.
