- Connect RailDriver directly: close TSC and any controller-mapping tools, then plug RailDriver into a direct USB port. Avoid an unpowered hub while setting it up, and allow Windows to finish detecting the device.

Why does RailDriver work with one locomotive but not another?
A locomotive-specific failure usually means the add-on uses custom scripts or a non-standard control arrangement, not that RailDriver has lost calibration.
The decisive check is a conventional locomotive known to use standard TSC controls. If all main axes work there, the USB connection, calibration and interface are functioning. Steam locomotives, combined power-brake controllers and highly scripted add-ons are more likely to need mouse or keyboard input.
A per-locomotive button profile can help when an add-on accepts standard keyboard commands. It cannot create analogue control for a custom cab function that the locomotive script does not expose to the RailDriver interface. Avoid running two mapping utilities together, as duplicate commands can cause flickering controls or brakes that repeatedly apply and release.
How do I fix RailDriver not working in TSC?
Find the fault by checking whether RailDriver fails at the USB, calibration, interface or locomotive stage.
- Nothing works in the calibration utility: close the simulator and interface, reconnect RailDriver to another direct USB port and test again. If the calibrator still cannot see it, the problem is outside TSC.
- Calibration works but TSC receives no input: confirm that the TSC-compatible interface is installed and running, restart both applications, use Expert controls and make sure neither is running at a different privilege level.
- Only one executable works: use TSC's 64-bit version normally. On installations that still provide 32-bit, test it once; if RailDriver works only there, the integration component is old or architecture-specific and should be replaced with a compatible package.
- An axis is reversed, stuck or jumps: recalibrate it through the RailDriver utility and close any second controller mapper. Persistent jitter in the calibration screen points to USB or hardware behaviour rather than a TSC graphics or gameplay setting.
- The cab controls move but the train does not: check both train and independent brakes, the reverser, master key, safety acknowledgements and any startup requirements. Do not use additional power to overcome a brake that is still applied.
- TSC crashes after installing the interface: remove or disable the integration through its installer, confirm that the simulator launches without it, then reinstall a package matching the executable you use.
