Learn how to replace default jetways with GSX Pro in MSFS, exclude custom airports, apply the configuration and fix duplicate jetways.
To replace default jetways with GSX Pro in Microsoft Flight Simulator, close the sim, open the FSDT Universal Installer, select GSX Pro’s configuration tool, and leave replacement active for eligible stock airports while excluding airports with custom jetways. Apply the configuration, restart MSFS, then check a gate that already has a jetway.
How do I enable GSX jetway replacement?
Jetway replacement is configured outside Microsoft Flight Simulator through the FSDT installer, not through the in-sim GSX toolbar.
- Install or update GSX Pro. Make sure its World of Jetways component is installed. If the base installation is incomplete, use our GSX installation and initial configuration walkthrough first.
- Close MSFS completely. Returning to the main menu is not enough because the installer needs to rebuild scenery files that the simulator may have loaded.
- Open the FSDT Universal Installer. Find GSX Pro and open its configuration controls.
- Refresh the airport list. Run the scenery scan or refresh option shown by your installer build. If a scenery manager or symbolic links control your add-ons, activate those airports before scanning.
- Review the exclusions. Leave replacement enabled for stock airports that use default jetways. Exclude every add-on airport that supplies its own jetway models or placement data.
- Apply the configuration. Use the displayed save or apply control and let the installer finish rebuilding the replacement package.
- Restart Microsoft Flight Simulator. Load at a gate that already contains a jetway. The replacement model should be visible when the airport loads; boarding or operating the jetway through GSX tests its movement.
The replacement scenery is normally loaded through the fsdreamteam-gsx-world-of-jetways package. GSX does not permanently alter the original airport. Selecting an in-sim jetway command alone will operate a bridge, but it will not swap the underlying model.
Which airports should be excluded from GSX replacement?
Exclude an airport whenever another scenery package supplies its own jetways; only one package should control the jetway objects at a given ICAO.
| Airport setup | Recommended choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Stock airport using default jetways | Keep GSX replacement active | This is the intended use for World of Jetways. |
| Add-on airport with custom jetways | Exclude it | Leaving both active can produce overlapping or misaligned bridges. |
| Add-on airport that deliberately uses default jetways | Enable only after checking compatibility | GSX may work, but the airport’s parking links and object placement still control alignment. |
| Two scenery packages for the same ICAO | Disable the unwanted airport package first | The GSX exclusion list cannot resolve two competing airport layouts. |
A mistake we see constantly is installing a new airport after GSX was configured and forgetting to rerun the scenery scan. Review the exclusions whenever you add, remove or relink airport scenery.
Does GSX Pro add extra or multiple jetways?
No: jetway replacement changes eligible existing objects, but it does not create a jetway at a remote stand or turn a single-bridge gate into a dual-bridge gate.
Multiple jetways require the airport scenery to define multiple suitable bridges and parking connections. GSX can operate compatible multi-bridge stands, but the airport layout must support them first. Our replacement-exclusion and multi-jetway configuration notes cover that distinction in more detail.
Why are the GSX jetways duplicated or misaligned?
Duplicate jetways almost always mean both GSX and a custom airport are drawing bridge objects at the same gate.
- Two bridges occupy the same position: exclude that airport from GSX replacement, apply the change and restart the entire simulator.
- The default jetway remains: confirm the World of Jetways package is enabled, verify that the airport was not accidentally excluded and rerun the configuration tool.
- The bridge is present but will not dock: check that the stand has valid jetway links and that the aircraft’s door positions are configured correctly. Replacing the model cannot repair faulty airport parking data.
- The jetway disappears completely: the custom airport may be excluded from GSX while its own scenery package is disabled. Enable the airport package or remove the exclusion.
For errors involving incorrect airport records, overlapping scenery or a reported bad jetway definition, follow our jetway-data and scenery-conflict fixes. Avoid deleting individual replacement files manually; the installer may recreate them during its next update or configuration pass.
This process is PC-only because GSX uses an external installer and executable components. It cannot be installed through the Xbox version of MSFS; our explanation of GSX Pro’s Xbox availability covers the platform restriction.
