Yes—on a Windows PC, you can use a Logitech throttle with a Thrustmaster or VKB stick if the throttle has its own USB connection. The simulator detects them as separate controllers: assign pitch, roll and related axes to the stick, then power controls to the throttle. They do not plug into each other.
This arrangement is normal in MSFS, X-Plane, DCS, FSX and Prepar3D. The key is not the brand but how each controller connects to the computer.
Which Logitech throttles can be used separately?
A Logitech throttle is mix-and-match compatible when it presents itself to Windows as an independent USB game controller.

The Thrustmaster or VKB controller must likewise be a complete stick and base with its own USB interface. A loose grip by itself is not an independent controller.
How do I connect and configure both controllers?
Connect the Logitech throttle and the Thrustmaster or VKB stick separately to the PC, then bind each device inside the simulator.
- Check the throttle connection. Look for a USB lead or socket intended for direct computer use. A plug that normally enters a yoke or another HOTAS component is not automatically USB-compatible.

- Test both in Windows. Open
joy.cplfrom the Run dialogue and confirm that each controller appears and its axes respond. Use our Windows detection and axis-calibration checks if either device is missing or behaves erratically. - Assign the flight stick. Bind aileron or roll, elevator or pitch, and twist rudder if required to the Thrustmaster or VKB device.
- Assign the Logitech throttle. Bind the lever to an analogue command labelled something like
Throttle Axis, not the digital increase/decrease throttle commands. For twin-engine aircraft, either use one all-engine axis or assign separate levers to the individual engine axes. - Clear duplicate defaults. Remove throttle bindings from the stick's mini-lever and remove pitch, roll or rudder bindings from any unused Logitech joystick axes.
- Test the full range. Check idle, maximum power and direction of travel. Enable the simulator's reverse-axis option if forward movement produces idle, then save the configuration as a named controller or aircraft profile.
Keep each manufacturer's configuration software responsible for its own hardware. There is normally no reason to combine Logitech and Thrustmaster or VKB equipment into one virtual controller.
Why do mixed controls produce double inputs?
Double inputs occur when the simulator's default profile assigns the same axis to more than one connected controller.
- Throttle jumps or jitters: clear the throttle axis from the stick's slider, wheel or mini-throttle.
- Aircraft rolls or pitches by itself: remove flight-axis bindings from an unused Logitech joystick or throttle mini-stick.
- Lever only gives idle or full power: bind it to an axis command rather than throttle increase and decrease buttons.
- Axis moves backwards: use the simulator's axis-reversal setting instead of recalibrating around the wrong direction.
- Throttle disappears: test it in

A mistake we see constantly is editing the visible stick profile while the conflicting assignment sits under the throttle, pedals or another connected controller. Inspect every device listed in the simulator's control screen.
Can I plug the Logitech throttle into the other stick?
No: a Logitech throttle should not be plugged into a Thrustmaster or VKB stick.
DIN-style, round and yoke-quadrant connectors may look familiar, but their wiring and communication protocols are device-specific. A passive USB or PS/2-shaped adaptor does not translate those signals and could damage the hardware. Connect each USB-capable controller to the PC instead.
A yoke-dependent quadrant needs its matching controller or an active interface designed for that exact model. The safer alternative is the stand-alone USB version.
Will a mixed-brand HOTAS work on consoles?
Console compatibility is model- and platform-specific, so a mixed USB setup that works on PC may not work on Xbox or PlayStation.
Consoles recognise only supported peripherals and cannot run ordinary Windows controller drivers. Even though Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, that does not make a PC-only Logitech, Thrustmaster or VKB controller console-compatible. Confirm support for the exact console and simulator before buying or mixing devices.
Is mixing brands worse than using a matched HOTAS?
Mixing brands does not inherently reduce control quality on a PC flight simulator.
Choose a mixed setup when one manufacturer's stick has the grip, gimbal or button layout you prefer and another offers the better throttle. A matched set can simplify cabling, shared software and technical support, while a mixed set gives you more choice. Basic axes and buttons normally work independently; vendor-specific lighting, displays, mode switches and programming features may still depend on the original software or companion hardware.
