Limited instrument coverage

Alamogordo-White Sands Regional has a notably sparse procedure set: its only published instrument approach is RNAV (GPS) and serves just one runway end. The opposite end and both ends of the shorter dirt runway have no published approach coverage. An obstacle departure procedure is available, but there is no published airport diagram.

Runways and surrounding coverage

The 9,207 ft asphalt runway is clearly the principal fixed-wing strip, while the 3,257 ft dirt runway provides a much shorter secondary alignment; a separate asphalt helipad is also listed. Nearby, Holloman AFB has substantially broader chart coverage. Sierra Blanca Regional and Las Cruces International are much closer to Alamogordo’s limited total. The Albuquerque Sectional supplies the wider visual-navigation context absent from the airport’s small instrument set.
