From the Rio Grande to the High Plains

Albuquerque anchors a sheet spanning most of New Mexico, with coverage extending into eastern Arizona and far western Texas. High desert, plateaux and broken mountain country shape the west and centre, while the Rio Grande corridor cuts through the heart of the region. Farther east, the terrain opens towards the Llano Estacado and southern High Plains; to the south-east, the Trans-Pecos and Guadalupe country adds another stretch of rugged, arid ground.

Connections around the sheet

Longer east–west routes continue onto Phoenix in the west or Dallas-Ft Worth in the east. Southbound coverage passes to El Paso, while routes leaving near the south-eastern corner connect with San Antonio. Denver adjoins to the north-west and Wichita to the north-east. These joins support crossings between the Southwest and the plains, where enclosed desert valleys, uplands and broad open country may all feature along the same route.

Common questions

What area does the Albuquerque Sectional Chart cover?

It spans 31.5°N to 36.3°N and 110.2°W to 101.8°W. Airports on the sheet fall within Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The full list of public-use airports within its coverage is on this page.

Should I download the GeoTIFF or the PDF?

Take the GeoTIFF if you are loading the chart into moving-map software or a flight planner — it is georeferenced, so the software can place it correctly on a map, and it ships with a world file and FGDC metadata at 300 dpi (62.3 MB). Take the PDF to print it or read it on a second screen (128.9 MB); it is the same chart without georeferencing.

Is this the current Albuquerque chart?

This is the FAA edition effective 9 July 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. Visual charts are reissued every 56 days and we publish each new edition on the day it takes effect. It is for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.

Which charts adjoin the Albuquerque sheet?

Dallas-Ft Worth to the east, Phoenix to the west, El Paso to the south, Denver to the north-west, Wichita to the north-east and San Antonio to the south-east. Each is linked from this page, so a route running off one edge can be continued on the next sheet.

Is the Albuquerque Sectional Chart free to download?

Yes, with no account required. FAA charts are United States Government works and are not subject to copyright protection in the US under 17 U.S.C. § 105. Guest downloads are speed-capped, so a sheet this size takes a while; PRO members download at full line speed and can take the whole family as one archive.
