The 7,604 ft runway is almost twice the length of the 3,835 ft cross-runway, so aircraft requiring more than 3,835 ft are confined to the longer alignment. Although the airport has four runway ends, published approaches serve only two. The mix includes an ILS alongside RNAV (GPS), VOR and localiser procedures, providing both precision and non-precision guidance but concentrating instrument access on half of the available ends.
Pangborn Memorial has the broadest chart set among the listed nearby airports, though it remains smaller than Yakima’s. Bowers Field and Richland have much thinner procedure coverage. The Seattle Sectional adds the wider visual-navigation context that terminal procedures do not provide, placing Yakima and surrounding aerodromes within a single VFR chart area.
