Go PROFrom the Pacific approaches west of Washington to the mountains of Idaho, the Seattle sheet spans one of the most varied flying regions in the north-western United States. It reaches from the Canadian border into central Oregon, taking in Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula, the Cascade Range and the drier country of the Columbia Basin. Coastal water, intricate shorelines and major mountain barriers contrast sharply with the broader valleys and plateaux east of the Cascades.
Routes running east continue onto the Great Falls sectional, while Klamath Falls adjoins to the south. The Salt Lake City sheet meets Seattle to the south-east, making it relevant where a route crosses from eastern Oregon or Idaho towards the interior West. These joins are particularly useful for planning longer sectors that leave the Pacific Northwest’s coastal and Cascade corridor.
A Terminal Area Chart also covers part of this region. Its larger scale gives a closer view of the metropolitan terminal area, while the sectional preserves the wider geographical context needed for journeys across western Washington and neighbouring states.
