William P. Hobby Airport

William P. Hobby Airport (KHOU) gets a streamlined FSX refresh with two BGL options, including an optional crosswind-runway layout to increase runway use for departures and arrivals. Expect improved assigned parking, added stands, rebuilt support vehicle roads, extra fuel trucks, helipads, and enhanced tower-view airport sightlines for livelier AI operations.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

William P. Hobby Airport (KHOU), Houston, Texas (TX). Includes two versions, one with the crosswind runways active and one without. Also includes assigned parking, support vehicle roads, extra fuel trucks, helipads and other improvements. By Ray Smith.

ADE Home Edition (Freeware) was used to design these BGL files: these 2 files are only for the FSX default airport: one with the Xwind rwy's activated where all 4 rwy's will be used for takeoff/landing and one as default: assigned parking with extra parking, support vehicle roads rebuilt, extra fuel trucks, helipad and several other improvements, airport views are from the roof of the control tower (when in tower view) fully tested with Ultimate Traffic/WOAI but not required, please view the readme before installation.

There are 2 BGL files: KHOU_ADE_RS.BGL and KHOU_ADE_CW_RS.BGL.

The 'KHOU_ADE_CW_RS.BGL' version is with the Xwind rwy's activated, the other version KHOU_ADE_RS.BGLis without parking is the same in both.

NOTE: PLEASE ONLY USE ONE BGL FILE AT A TIME. I.E. Make sure there is only ONE 'KHOU.BGL' FILE in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder at any time, remove/delete any other KHOU.bgl.
NOTE: When using ATIS with the KHOU_ADE_CW_RS.BGL file you will hear the fake rwy's, this is the method used in activating Xwind rwy's created by Jim Vile and should be ignored or if preferred use the version KHOU_ADE_RS.BGL.

To Install:

Simply take the BGL file of your choice and place it into: Flight Simulator X/Addon Scenery/Scenery Folder.
Start up the Flight sim and the changes will be present.

To Uninstall:

Delete the BGL file and the default will then be active.

TIP: When at KHOU in tower view: go to your control settings and look for the "View track/pan Toggle". Allocate a keyboard key stroke to it (i allocated a button on my X52 controller) this will unlock the user aircraft, then you can use the hat switch to pan 360 degrees around the airport, hitting the key stroke again (in my case a button) will return you to the user aircraft position.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
Place scenery in Addon Scenery

Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.
Activate in Scenery Library

In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

Use these coordinates to fly directly to this location once the mod is installed.
