FSX Mini-Imp

Molt Taylor’s Mini-Imp brings the 1972 homebuilt design to life in FSX with a later Mini-Imp-C configuration powered by a 100 hp Continental O-200. Expect a detailed virtual cockpit with clickable canopy latch, ATC trigger on the stick, pop-up controls for pilot, reflections and chocks, plus an included paint kit.

Hello, and Thank You for downloading my virtual rendition of the Taylor Mini-Imp. The Imp appeared in 1972, and was designed by Molt Taylor. This model is a later -C version using a 100HP Continental 0-200 engine.

Installation:

  1. After unzipping the file move the "Mini-Imp" folder into your \SimObjects\Airplanes folder.
  2. Move the font file to the FSX Fonts folder.

When Flying:

  • The plane is set up for differential braking. If you wish to change it to direct steering substitute this line for the original in the contact points section of the aircraft.cfg file: point.0= 1, 5.727, 0.000, -3.395, 1500, 0, 0.433, 56.000, 0.050, 2.500, 0.900, 1.500, 1.500, 0.
  • From the external view the control stick does not move.
  • Clicking the button on the pilot's control stick opens/closes the ATC window.
  • Clicking the canopy latch (right side near canopy handle) opens & closes the canopy.
  • "Shift + 1" brings up a pop-up that allows you to control the visibility of the pilot, the inner canopy reflections, and the tire chocks. The chocks are tied to the parking brake.
  • The plane is daytime only. There is no lighting on it.
  • The GPS knobs use the mouse wheel for adjustment. Click on the end of the inner knob to push it in.
  • The pitch trim can be set in the VC by clicking on the trim position indicator located on the left console.

Special Thanks:

  • To Larry "Tako Kichi" Green for contributing the nice set of antennas!
  • The "regulars" on the SOH Teampeak channel for testing my work.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

I am the builder of newly certified Mini-IMP N441MP and about to put together a MSFS 2020 system with Logitech controls.

Will your depiction of the Mini-IMP work for me?

Also, I'll be happy to send pictures and answer any questions you have about my aircraft. Thanks!
