FSX Out To Grass UK Flights

Out To Grass UK Flights delivers ten grass-strip VFR flight plans across England with detailed briefings on routes, airfields, and local landmarks, built to showcase photographic scenery and regional airfield detail in FSX. Requires VFR Photographic Scenery X Volumes 1–3 and UK2000 Scenery Volumes 1–3, with optional Treescapes and recommended freeware scenery packs.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

Out To Grass (OTG) is a series of ten flight plans covering most of England and using only grass airfields. The flights are intended to exploit the VFR Photographic Scenery X and the UK2000 Scenery airfields for the three areas covering England. Full briefings are included describing the areas and airfields visited, along with some help with the flying. The Readme has full instructions for installation and recommendations for freeware add-ons required. By Gordon Wilkinson.

Essential addons are the relevant VFR Photographic Scenery X Volumes 1, 2, and 3, and UK2000 Scenery Volumes 1, 2, and 3, with the airfields for each area. The Treescapes (from Earth Simulations) for each area also enhance the scenery, but are not essential. Without the UK2000 Scenery some airfields may not appear at all in the default FSX or even in the Photographic Scenery. Much of the accompanying briefing will be meaningless if you don't have the scenery installed.

  • UK ANO FSX (ukanofsx.zip) {Air Navigation Obstacles - very useful for VFR navigation]
  • UK Refineries (ukreffsx.zip) [Please take note of the Readme]
  • FSX Power Project v.4.0. (fsxpowerprojectv4_0.zip) [A huge and very impressive scenic achievement]

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    These flights are not working because whoever wrote them and did the flightplan has left it looking for his own path to the FSX files (a chap called "Jock"), as in C:/Users/Jock/Documents/Flight Simulator X Files/VFR/ Rendcomb to Oaksey Park, for the first flight.

    Would be a good idea to change it so that it looks in the user's FSX files folder instead! ;-)
