Lynn and Bill Lyons' Piper Apache updated and adapted for FSX. Includes four liveries with companion, color-coded panel sets. Installation:

  1. Open the download zip to a temporary location and place the folder, "Piper Apache" in your FSX SimObjects/Airplanes folder.
  2. Place the items in the "EFFECTS" folder in your main FSX "Effects" folder.
  3. Place the items in the "GAUGES" folder in your main FSX "Gauges" folder.

For those already familiar with add-on aircraft and panel installations, the foregoing is routine. However, for those that are new to this, I highly recommend that you seek guidance from the forums.

A note about liveries and panel:

Each of the four liveries are original, except for modifications made necessary to some textures for use in FSX. OEM textures are included in each texture folder and are marked with "HOLD". Additionally, the active prop textures have been supplanted with an FSX variation.

The file/nomenclature structure of each of the four complementary panel sets is kept in original form. DO NOT change the name of either the panel folders or the bitmaps inside, as this will interfere with initiation of the aircraft.

One of my favorite airplanes. I had to uninstall it because I could not get the guages to work. I was determined, so I reinstalled it and finally got it to work. I like the curtains in the passenger area of the cabin. I agree with Dane. The views are a little dark. But overall, good job! Thanks!

Lynn and Bill Lyons Piper Apache is a beautiful historic GA twin and thanks to Ken Wigginton for the excellent restoration, it works very well in FSX-Steam.

I only wish there was a way to make the view through the windows and windscreen more transparent as I find the darker view interferes with clarity of the outside. Does anyone know if this is possible?
