This repaint represents c/n 151480 ex-BuNo 37514, a Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon which was delivered to the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Aviation in 1955, as it would have appeared between 1958 and 1960. The JMSDF operated twelve PV-2 and five PV-2D Harpoons between 1955 and 1961, mostly in the role of crew trainer and for ground instruction, as they were replaced in frontline service by P2V-7 Neptunes within a year of their arrival.
